Frequently asked questions

What is the price of the tour?

Prices can vary between $25 - $35 per person depending on the type of tour, the season, and day of the week. Children 2 and under are always free.

How long is the tour?

The tour lasts between 30-45 minutes depending on the size of the group.

Is the tour wheelchair accessible?

We do have paved walkways on the grounds. The main building has an elevator that accesses all floors including the roof. The outer towers only have staircase access.

Are there a lot of stairs?

There are three flights of stairs inside the castle building. The chalet towers have one flight of stairs. No elevator access is available in chalets.

How early should I arrive?

Due to Covid-19 regulations, we ask that guests arrive no earlier than 5 minutes before the scheduled tour to avoid overcrowding in the castle.

Are photos allowed?

Yes, photography is allowed as the tour group moves along each location. Tour guests can also take photos on the grounds and on the first floor at their leisure. However, professional photography must be booked as a separate event by contacting info@thekentuckycastle.com.

What is the dress code?

We have no strict dress code. Wear whatever makes you feel most comfortable! The tour does include some outdoor spaces, so dress appropriately for the weather.

Why do you not have a tour on this date / at this time?

Private events, hotel occupancy, restaurant hours and tour guide availability are the determining factors in creating the tour schedule. We try our best to make sure as many areas of the castle are accessible to tour guests as possible, and will not offer tours when there is not enough to see.

Is the tour guided?

Yes! We do not offer self-guided tours.

What does the tour include?

The tour provides a brief history of the castle and showcases various spaces on the 1st and 2nd floor, terrace views, rooftop access, and the ability to explore the castle grounds afterward.

How many people do you allow on a tour?

Due to COVID-19, we are currently only offering tours for up to 8 guests at a time. These guests should all belong to the same household group.

Do hotel guests need to book a tour to explore the castle?

No! Hotel guests are welcome to explore the castle at their leisure. All areas that are visited during the tour are accessible to hotel guests during their stay. However, for the full history and additional information, some hotel guests may still prefer the guided tour.

How far in advance should I book my tour?

For private tours, please submit your tour request form at least 3 days in advance of your preferred date. Weekend tours tend to book up early, so send your request as early as possible.

What precautions are you taking for COVID-19?

We check the temperature of all guests upon entering the castle grounds, and we are currently requiring guests to wear masks throughout the entire tour. All common areas are regularly sanitized for the protection of both guests and employees.

Should I tip my tour guide?

Tips are not required, but always appreciated!

Who should I contact with additional questions?

Please reach out to tours@thekentuckycastle.com

Is food included with the tour?

No, we are currently not offering any tours with snacks or meals included in the ticket price. However, guests are encouraged to make brunch or dinner reservations for our Castle Farms Restaurant here.
