Being summertime there have been several changes within the walls of the castle. If you haven’t been out since the new pool has been completed you should definitely come check it out!
Our Chef’s garden is another addition we’re very excited about. It’s just outside of our kitchen for chef’s use and for our guest’s enjoyment. This garden is to showcase what is in the main garden, for guests to enjoy, and to provide a very nice area for guests to relax in nature. We want to add usefulness to all spaces at The Kentucky Castle.
Lots of building and digging
Chef’s gardens are great because of the ease of access to fresh ingredients. They can also be as big or as little as needed and can be adapted to the owners’ needs. One of the things we love about our chef’s garden is using raised beds. By using raised beds it is easy to show our guest what we are growing for them in our big garden up on the hill but with easy access to see the produce up close. Produce includes squash, peppers, and cucumbers. We also have herbs such as basil and flowers such as lavender for culinary uses. The kitchen staff love the access to fresh ingredient right outside their door. We believe you’ll be able to taste the freshness of ingredients when you dine with us.
We really would love for our guests to be more engaged with their food. Be sure and ask your server what items are fresh from the garden each evening. Sometimes it’s more than other times. It just depends on what we’re able to harvest. As time goes on, more and more will be directly from our soil, whether it’s just outside the kitchen or up on the hill. This garden will be utilized year round by rotating out seasonal plants and by installing a large greenhouse just adjacent to it. This will be complete by the fall and will be a fantastic new event space! To inquire about using the greenhouse event space email firstname.lastname@example.org. The chef’s garden is an incredible way to get kids involved as well. We love showing kids what we’re growing, teach them about the health benefits, and let them see nature at work.
