Originally from Lexington, Jess has lived a little bit of everywhere since graduating from Transylvania University with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science. While initially pursuing a doctorate in the same subject, she discovered her passion for working in the restaurant industry, and decided to immediately switch careers, move across the country to Napa, California, and attend the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone, where she graduated second in her class. Living in Napa helped to develop a passionate love affair for wine, and food and wine pairings, in particular. She worked at Restaurant August in New Orleans, Louisiana and for The Walt Disney Company in Orlando, Florida before returning to Lexington to continue her restaurant education as a bartender and server after so many years in the kitchen. Jess is also a current member of Les Dames d'Escoffier in Kentucky, a by-invite leadership and philanthropy group for women in the hospitality and restaurant business.
Jess brings twelve years of hospitality experience to The Kentucky Castle, where she has been sharing her excitement and passion for good food and beverage with staff and guests. She aims to create magical dining experiences for guests, and to create one of a kind moments in such a unique setting. The farm-to-fork, local, seasonal cuisine, the handcrafted cocktails, and the staff which take pride in making guests feel right at home are the cornerstones to creating her ideal restaurant.
